Goat Companion (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Everything you create in Goat Companion — goat profiles, health and FAMACHA records, medication and withdrawal logs, breeding and kidding records, milk logs, feed and inventory, fiber and shearing records, financial entries, tasks, journal notes, and photos or videos — is stored locally on your device only. We do not transmit your personal herd data to any server.
If you make the one-time in-app purchase to unlock Pro features, RevenueCat (our payment processor) handles purchase verification. RevenueCat may collect anonymized purchase and device information as described in their privacy policy.
If you add photos or videos to goat profiles or the gallery, those files are accessed from your device’s photo library or camera. They are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to any server.
If you enable the weather feature, your approximate GPS coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve your local forecast. No account is required and Open-Meteo does not store or log your location data. You can disable weather at any time in Settings.
If you use voice input, your device’s built-in speech recognition processes audio in real time to convert it to text. On Android this uses Google’s speech recognition service; on iOS it uses Apple’s speech recognition. In both cases audio may be sent to that provider for transcription and is not stored by us. Voice input is optional — you can disable microphone access at any time in your device’s app permissions.
Goat Companion can create a backup archive of your herd data on request, optionally protected by a password you choose. That archive is built entirely on your device and handed to your device’s own share sheet — where you send it (Files, email, cloud storage, or elsewhere) is your choice, and we never see or receive a copy. If the archive is unencrypted, anyone who obtains the file can read it, so we recommend setting a password for anything you store or send somewhere you don’t fully control.
If you grant notification permission, Goat Companion schedules local reminders on your device. These notifications are processed entirely on-device and are not transmitted externally.
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs. No usage data, crash reports, or behavioral analytics are collected in this version of the app.
All app data is stored in your device’s local storage. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. We have no ability to access or restore your data once the app is deleted, unless you have your own backup archive (see above).
Goat Companion is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
